STORY: Fire destroys market in Togo's capital SHOOTING TIME: Dec. 21, 2023 DATELINE: Dec. 23, 2023 LENGTH: 00:01:32 LOCATION: Lome CATEGORY: OTHERS SHOTLIST: 1. various of firefighters putting out the fire at the site STORYLINE: A fire broke out in a local market in Lome, the capital of Togo, from Thursday night to Friday. The fire department had rushed to the scene and evacuated people in high-risk areas, including a gas station and stores near the market. According to witnesses at the scene, the fire started around 8.30 p.m. and quickly swept across the whole market. For at least five hours, market facilities were destroyed by the fire, whose flames could be seen for several kilometers. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
