The highway runs 522 km in Xinjiang, connecting Lunnan in the north, with Minfeng county in the south. It was inaugurated in 1995. On Thursday, a "zero-carbon" project was launched on the highway, with solar panels employed to generate electricity to pump water for irrigating trees.
