China: Gray Cat Becomes Stranded While Clinging to Metal Staircase Railing

A gray cat was seen clinging to the metal railing of a staircase in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province on Friday, December 26. With its paws tightly clenched and frozen in place, the animal was unable to move up or down the stairs.

A small cat was rescued in Beijing on Tuesday, December 16, 2023, after its paw accidentally froze to a metal fence during a heavy winter snowfall. A kind passerby noticed the animal’s distress and used the warmth of her hands to gently thaw the ice and release the cat unharmed.

Mexico: Short Circuit Causes Smoke, Prompts Evacuation at CDMX Metro Station

A cloud of smoke was reported late Wednesday, December 17, at Merced station on Mexico City’s Metro Line 1, prompting the evacuation of a train and the station. Transit officials said the smoke was caused by a short circuit, likely triggered by a metal object on the tracks, and denied reports of an explosion, adding that service later resumed normally.
