Murata Manufacturing's all-individual battery that has started shipping samples

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will startmass production of all solid-state batteries using ceramics technology within fiscal 2019. The company will build a new mass production line in the battery-related production building at Yasu Plant (Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture). The production capacity is planned to be 100,000 units per month for the time being. The capacity of the prototype is more than 10 milliampere hours, 100 times higher than that of other companies' products, the highest level in the industry, and the company will accelerate its expansion into energy-related markets, including the lithium-ion rechargeable battery business acquired from Sony in 2005. The company will mass-produce surface-mounted "ceramic all-solid-state batteries" that use ceramic materials as the electrolyte.
