This video shows tires and other objects burning on a street in Makongeni, Thika. Major cities across Kenya came to a standstill on Wednesday, June 25, as thousands protested to mark the first anniversary of the deadly Gen Z-led demonstrations last year. Protesters marched through Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisii, Nyeri, and Nakuru, demanding justice, police reform, and government accountability. Clashes broke out between demonstrators and riot police, especially in Nairobi's CBD and along major roads like Thika Road. Roads were barricaded, bonfires lit, and businesses shut down. Police responded with tear gas and live ammunition in some cases, leaving multiple people injured.
