A massive snowball fight broke out at Washington Square Park on Monday, February 23, after a historic blizzard dumped nearly 20 inches of snow on New York City. Organized by the viral media group Side Talk, the event drew hundreds of residents to Manhattan’s West Village, turning the snow-covered park into a scene of joyous winter chaos.

US: Powerful Blizzard Hits NYC, Travel Bans Issued Across Northeast

A powerful blizzard — the first to strike the New York City area in a decade — began late Sunday night, February 22, and brought much of the U.S. Northeast to a standstill by Monday, February 23, prompting travel bans, school closures, and emergency measures. Central Park recorded 19.7 inches of snow, while parts of Long Island saw up to 31 inches. The storm produced heavy snow, fierce winds, coastal flooding risks, and widespread power outages, with states of emergency declared and millions under weather warnings across the region. This video was captured on the Manhattan side beneath the Queensboro Bridge (59th Street Bridge), along the East River, on Sunday night, February 22.

US: Several Inches of Snow Forecast for NYC, Prompting Travel Warnings Across City

A winter storm warning was issued for upstate New York as a powerful system moved into the Tri-State area on Friday, December 26. In response to the conditions, a state of emergency has been declared in both New York and New Jersey. 5 to 9 inches of snow were expected, and NYC's Department of Emergency Management issued a travel advisory, warning that roads would become slick.

US: First Major Snow of Season Blankets New York City

New York City experienced its first significant snowfall of the season overnight into Sunday, December 14, as snow spread across the Tri-State area. The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories for New York and New Jersey through Sunday afternoon, while winter storm warnings were in effect for much of New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania. Across the region, snowfall totals ranged from a couple of inches to as much as six inches.
