Japanese baseball legend Nagashima dies at 89

Former Yomiuri Giants player and manager Shigeo Nagashima poses with an autographed paper at a hotel in Tokyo on March 21, 2014. Nagashima, who was a key player on the Giants team that won nine consecutive Central League and Japan Series titles from 1965 to 1973 and later managed the club, died on June 3, 2025, aged 89.
