Toshiba settles with flash memory inventor over patent

QUARZAZATE, Morocco - Japanese driver Hiroshi Masuoka, gunning for his third successive Dakar Rally victory, speeds into the lead for the first time on Jan. 6 after winning the sixth stage in Morocco between Quarzazate and Tan Tan. Masuoka, at the wheel of a Mitsubishi, quickly negotiated the rocky terrain to put himself a full 6 minutes and 40 seconds ahead of French teammate and overnight leader Stephane Peterhansel, covering the 351-kilometer stage in 3 hours, 9 minutes and 40 seconds for an overall time total of 7 hours, 42 minutes and 23 seconds.
