Spain: Catalan Teachers Strike on Fourth Day, Demanding Labor Improvements

Thousands of teachers took to the streets across Catalonia, including Girona, Sabadell, Mataró, and Granollers, on Thursday, March 19, on the fourth day of a strike as educators demanded better pay, reduced class sizes, and more support staff. A full Catalonia-wide strike was set to follow on Friday, with even greater turnout expected.

'Winter Sonata' hero, Olympic athlete feature year's theme dolls

TOKYO, Japan - Mataro Ningyo Co., a doll maker in Tokyo, releases dolls Nov. 16 representing major events in Japan this year. The male doll on the left at the bottom is modeled after South Korean Bae Yong Jun, star of the hit TV drama ''Winter Sonata.'' The pair on the right at the bottom are modeled after Kyoko Hamaguchi, the women's freestyle wrestling bronze medalist in the Athens Olympics, and her father and professional wrestler Animal Hamaguchi. The doll on the left in the middle is modeled after Seattle Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki, who set a major league single-season hit record this year.
