Former Japan national team defender Matsuda dies

TOKYO, Japan - Naoki Matsuda (3) plays in a game between Japan and Russia in the 2002 World Cup at International Stadium Yokohama (current name Nissan Stadium) in Yokohama, near Tokyo, in June 2002. Matsuda, who joined Japan Football League club Matsumoto Yamaga after playing for Yokohama F Marinos from 1995 to 2010, died on Aug. 4, 2011.
