Approximately 18,000 people and 8,100 homes and businesses were placed under evacuation orders or warnings.

The Pearl Fire broke out northwest of Red Feather Lakes in the Crystal Lakes area in Colorado Monday, September 16, forcing mandatory evacuation. Larimer County sheriff said the fire was human caused.
