France: Violent Storm Forces Postponement of Toulon-La Rochelle Match

Violent thunderstorms swept through southern France on Sunday, September 21, causing major flooding in some areas. The storms brought torrential rain to the Var department, disrupting transport, causing power outages and forcing the postponement of sporting events, including the Marseille-Paris-Saint-Germain football game and the Toulon-La Rochelle rugby match.

ROME, Italy - French free diver Jacques Mayol (file photo) has committed suicide at his residence on the Italian island of Elba, Italian police said Dec. 23. He was 74.
