Kramatorsk volunteers sewed the Crimean Tatar flag measuring 9 by 16 meters by hand. It was later unfurled in many regional centres in Ukraine. The flag was then launched over the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula with the help of 200 balloons in celebration of the Crimean Tatar Flag Day on June 28, 2021.

KYIV, UKRAINE - OCTOBER 19, 2023 - Former Ukrainian President and European Solidarity leader Petro Poroshenko (3rd L), his wife Maryna Poroshenko (L), deputy chair of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chyihoz and leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemiliev (L to R, middle) attend the funeral service of the late Serhii Ikonnikov, the youngest unit commander of the 72nd Black Zaporozhians Mechanized Brigade who went by his call sign 'Monakh' (Monk), at St Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral, Kyiv, capital of Ukraine. The serviceman, who had been an assistant to a Kyiv City Council member and European Solidarity Party activist, died on his 25th birthday on Friday, October 13, during an assault of Russian troops in the Vuhledar direction.
