Mexico: Short Circuit Causes Smoke, Prompts Evacuation at CDMX Metro Station

A cloud of smoke was reported late Wednesday, December 17, at Merced station on Mexico City’s Metro Line 1, prompting the evacuation of a train and the station. Transit officials said the smoke was caused by a short circuit, likely triggered by a metal object on the tracks, and denied reports of an explosion, adding that service later resumed normally.
