OITA, Japan - Nguyen Duc (R), a Vietnamese who was separated from his conjoined twin brother in 1988, learns how to make artificial legs and maintain replacement legs in a two-week training course under Mikio Yuki (L), the Japanese designer and maker of his artificial leg. Duc, 19, was born joined to his twin, Viet, in 1981. The abnormality is suspected to have been caused by a defoliant scattered by U.S. military aircraft in the Vietnam War.

Duc, 19, will learn how to make and maintain replacement legs from Yuki. Duc was born joined to his twin, Viet, in 1981. OITA, Japan - Nguyen Duc, a 19-year-old Vietnamese boy who was born conjoined to his twin and was successfully separated arrives at Oita Airport, western Japan, on Aug. 19 for technical training on his artificial leg. Oita Prefecture is the hometown of 35-year-old Mikio Yuki (R back), the designer and maker of his artificial left leg, who is accompanying Duc.
