Led by architect Gabor Zoboki, the reconstruction recreated the original look and decoration of the building while upgrading functionality and stage technologies. The reconstruction also includes a total renovation of the audience areas, orchestral areas and acoustics. The opera house was built in 1884 by Hungarian architect Miklos Ybl.
