Chubu firms to donate 4 bil. yen for Nagoya Castle restoration

NAGOYA, Japan - An artist impression of the main palace of Nagoya Castle. Sokichi Minoura, head of the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce, says July 25 the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce plans to raise 4 billion yen from companies based in the Nagoya area in a joint donation drive with the Chubu Economic Federation. The construction cost of the main palace is estimated at 15 billion yen. The city of Nagoya hopes to raise 5 billion yen through donations. Construction work is due to begin in fiscal 2008.
