LVIV, UKRAINE - DECEMBER 1, 2023 - Costume designer Nataliia Mishchenko speaks to the press during a briefing dedicated to the premiere of the Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors ballet at the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Lviv, western Ukraine. The ballet is based on the 1911 novel by Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi inspired by his stay in the Hutsul region. It is the love story of Ivan and Marichka, two Hutsuls from rival families, which ends tragically for both. The ballet staged by Artem Shoshyn features music by Ivan Nebesnyi and the libretto by Vasyl Vovkun.
