Riken Invents Nursing Robot

AICHI, JAPAN - FEB. 23: The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, known as Riken, one of Japan's top research institute, announced it invented a new robot to help care the patients by help them by taking them up in the robot's arms. The robot, dubbed Robea, can act like a human with censors to weigh the weight of patients automatically. Chisato Miyaji who experienced the robot, which took her from a sofa to a wheelchair, said she felt her body was moved up very gently just like a human helper. The robot itself is 1.5 meters tall and 140 kilograms heavy but the weight was reduced by 90 kilos from the previous model. Riken made the robot public for the press on Monday February 23 at its facility here in Nagoya, central Japan.
