At noon, thousands of people, most of them followers of Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, gathered in Tahrir Square in downtown Baghdad, and many of them waved Iraqi and Palestinian flags in a sign of solidarity with Palestinians. Some demonstrators set fire to a large Israeli flag at the scene. The demonstrators chanted: "No, no, America" and "No, no, Israel" and raised banners denouncing the West's silence toward the devastation witnessed in Gaza due to the Israeli attacks.
