TOKYO, Japan - Police conduct an on-the-spot investigation on June 22 near the home in Musashi-Murayama, western Tokyo, where Teruhito Tanabe, 75, was shot several times in the abdomen and chest by two men posing as parcel delivery men. Tanabe, who was seriously wounded, called the police by himself after being shot. He told them he has been shot immediately after opening the door.

TOKYO, Japan - Nissan Motor Co. unionists stage a protest rally on Dec. 23 against the closure of the automaker's assembly plant at Musashi-Murayama, Kanagawa Prefecture. The rally, held at the Mikagebashi Park in Tachikawa, metropolitan Tokyo, was attended by 3,000 unionists and their supporters. The Musashi-Murayama plant, one of Nissan's key manufacturing facilities, is due to be closed in March 2001.
