Qwest talking with Japanese, Asian firms about tie-up

NEW YORK, United States - Qwest Communications International Inc. is talking with KDD Corp., as well as other Japanese and Asian companies for a business tie-up in data telecommunications services, Joseph P. Nacchio, Qwest chairman and chief executive officer, says in New York on Oct. 8. ''We know the KDD guys well. We are talking. We are not cooperating (with KDD) in any sense. We are talking,'' Nacchio said after a speech here.
