FUKUSHIMA, Japan - Postcards from Nao Deguchi, 13, believed to have perished in the fire inside Austria's Mt. Kitzsteinhorn funicular train tunnel at Kaprun on Nov. 11, were received by her relatives in Fukushima Prefecture, northern Japan, on Nov. 16. Nao visited Kaprun with her father and schoolmates.

Deguchi's husband Okihiko, a ski instructor from Inawashiro, Fukushima Prefecture, and their 13-year-old daughter Nao are believed to have perished in the fire, along with 8 other Japanese.

Bodies of 4 Japanese identified in Austrian alpine fire

TOKYO, Japan - Four of the bodies recovered following the Nov. 11 fire on an alpine funicular train in Austria were identified Nov. 22 as those of Japanese nationals. The bodies were identified as Okihiko Deguchi, 42; his daughter Nao, 13; (top left and right), Ayaka Katoono, 14; and Maki Sakakibara, 25. (bottom left and right). The four were among 10 Japanese skiers who perished in the fire. A total of 155 people died when a fire gutted the funicular train inside a 3.2-kilometer tunnel through Mt. Kitzsteinhorn.
