Fukushima Univ. to waive tuition for disaster-hit students

FUKUSHIMA, Japan - Fukushima University President Osamu Nittono (L), at a press conference in the city of Fukushima, northeastern Japan, on Nov. 30, 2011, said the university will waive tuition and enrollment fees for students severely affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and ensuing nuclear disaster, from the next academic year starting in April 2012.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan - Three university presidents, Toshimasa Asahara (L) of Hiroshima University, Osamu Nittono of Fukushima University (C) and Shigeru Katamine of Nagasaki University, are seen at a ceremony in Fukushima City on July 28, 2011, for the conclusion of an agreement to partner on radiation research. The three universities will work together on studies including the effects of radiation, decontamination of radioactive substances as well as education and social support for children who face greater health risks in the aftermath of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
