DILI, East Timor - Col. M. Noer Muis (R), the newly installed East Timor military commander, succeeds Col. Tono Suratman on Aug. 13. Col. M. Noer Muis pledged in Dili to ensure a peaceful and orderly Aug. 30 referendum on independence. He also called on East Timorese to cooperate in ensuring the security of the referendum.
