Cenotaph built for baseball coach of Taiwan high school

MATSUYAMA, Japan - A ceremony is held on Oct. 6, 2014, in Matsuyama, southwestern Japan, to unveil a cenotaph built in honor of Japanese baseball coach Hyotaro Kondo who led Taiwan's Kagi Norin High School to a runner-up in Japan's national high school baseball tournament in 1936 during the Japanese colonial rule of the island in 1895-1945. Kondo's motto of "Ball is Spirit" is engraved in the baseball-shaped top of the monument.
