Special Turkish Airlines plane lands in Japan to commemorate friendship

NARITA, Japan, Nov. 30 Kyodo - Kushimoto Mayor Katsumasa Tashima makes a speech at a ceremony in Narita airport, east of Tokyo on Nov. 30, 2015, to mark the release of a movie depicting the friendship between Turkey and Japan. The Turkish Airlines jet, seen in the background, was named "KUSHIMOTO" after the Japanese coastal town where an Ottoman frigate sank in 1890 due to a typhoon. Of the 587 people aboard the warship, 69 survived due to rescue efforts by local people.
