Ex-gangster, son sentenced to death for 2004 murders

FUKUOKA, Japan - Jitsuo Kitamura (L), 63, a former gangster, and his son Takashi (R), 26, were sentenced to death by the Fukuoka District Court on Feb. 27 for killing three people for money in 2004 in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture. Takashi was also convicted of murdering a fourth person. The court last October sentenced Kitamura's wife Mami, 47, and second son Takahiro, 22, to death, ruling that all four family members conspired in the murders. (Kyodo)
