University of Electro-Communications and Obayashi Corporation's diagnostic device for correcting blurred images

Associate Professor Norihiro Koizumi of the University of Electro-Communications and Obayashi Corporation (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) have developed a device that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic technology to correct blurring caused by the movement of organs and assist in taking clear images using ultrasound. It is expected that Obayashi Corporation will start selling this device in April 2022 at a price of tens of millions of yen, for use as a supplement to ultrasound diagnostic equipment. In the future, it is envisioned that cancer treatment using radiation or heavy particle beams will be carried out while observing in real time. It is expected that by obtaining images that pinpoint the location of organs, the beam can be accurately irradiated to the affected area.
