The horseshoe crab is a species that has lived on the earth since 400 million years ago and still retains its original appearance. The species, known as "living fossil," was listed on the red list of endangered species by IUCN in 2012 and has become a second-class protected animal in China. ICHIKAWA, Japan - Two girls looks into the mouth of a stuffed megamouth just completed at a laboratory in Ichikawa, east of Tokyo, on July 13. This rare shark, 4.2 meters long, was netted in Suruga Bay on the Pacific in the summer of 2003. It will be put on exhibition at Tokai University's Oceanology Museum in Shimizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, from July 17 to August 31, 2004.
