Mexico: Category 5 Hurricane Polo Brings Gusty Wind, Rain to Pacific Coast

Hurricane Polo rapidly strengthened into a Category 5 storm off Mexico's Pacific coast, with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. As of Tuesday evening, Polo was located about 210 miles south of Zihuatanejo. Residents in Guerrero and Michoacán remained on alert, bracing for heavy rain, flooding, damaging winds and storm surge.

Two workers in Fuyang, Anhui, were unloading a stack of doors and windows when the materials suddenly shifted and collapsed on top of one of them. The incident occurred on July 31, 2026. One worker was pinned beneath the fallen frames while the other narrowly avoided being trapped. The uninjured worker immediately began lifting the fallen materials by hand to free his colleague.
