Works of literary giant Ogai Mori's son to be exhibited

TOKYO, Japan - Tetsutaro Mori (R), a son of the late essayist Rui Mori, hands a list of some 6,000 works Rui wrote on the life of his father Ogai Mori, a literary great in the late 19th to early 20th centuries, to Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward Mayor Hironobu Narisawa on Dec. 22, 2014, ahead of their exhibition in March 2015 in the ward.

Writer investigates mystery behind Mori Ogai's German girlfriend

BERLIN, Germany - Photo taken Sept. 25, 2013 in Berlin shows Ichika Rokuso, who wrote books investigating the long-standing mystery behind the German girlfriend of Japanese novelist Mori Ogai (1862-1922). Rokuso, who has lived in Berlin for 25 years, compiled into two books her findings in Germany about Ogai's girlfriend Elise, who is believed to be a model for the protagonist of his tragic novel "Maihime" (The Dancing Girl).

The Iwata education board announced the finding of the letter that day.

Iwaso Inn, located at the entrance of Momijidani Park at Miyajima, opened in 1854. Among the many celebrities who stayed here were Imperial family members, Ito Hirobumi, Natsume Soseki, Mori Ogai, and Helen Keller. A modern fountain was installed when the main inn building was constructed in 1892.
