Suntory researcher aiming to create deep-blue rose

SHIMAMOTO, Japan - Photo taken Dec. 25, 2013 shows Naoko Okitsu, a researcher at the Suntory Global Innovation Center in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, who is aiming to develop the world's first deep-blue rose.

The area between Yui and Okitsu was the most scenic along the Tokaido Highway. The photo evokes the beaches of Yui in former days, with the steep cliff coming near the sea, resembling the difficult terrain of Oyashirazu in the Hokuriku area. Sacred Japanese island seeking UNESCO heritage listing
