Child sees pre-quake scenery with tablet on Hokkaido isle

HAKODATE, Japan - An elementary school girl uses a tablet computer on Oct. 8, 2014, to see a virtual scene of her town as it looked prior to its destruction in the 1993 earthquake that struck Okushiri, a small island off the southwest of Japan's northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido. The scene being viewed is created by an application based on augmented reality technology and built into the tablet. The quake and ensuing tsunami left some 200 people dead or missing.
