US: Falcon 9 Streaks Across Arizona Sky After Vandenberg Launch

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Friday, January 2, deploying Italy’s dual-use Cosmo-SkyMed Second Generation Flight Model 3 (CSG-FM3) satellite into low Earth orbit. The mission, delayed by pad issues, marked SpaceX’s first orbital launch in 16 days and included a successful booster landing.

Southern Europe and The Northwestern Mediterranean Coast from The ISS

Handout - JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Kimiya Yui captured this photo of southern Europe and the northwestern Mediterranean coast from the International Space Station as it orbited 261 miles above Earth on August 30, 2025. At left, the Po Valley urban corridor in Italy shines with the metropolitan areas of Milan and Turin and their surrounding suburbs. Crew members aboard the orbital lab have produced hundreds of thousands of images of the land, oceans, and atmosphere of Earth, and even of the Moon through Crew Earth Observations. Their photographs of Earth record how the planet changes over time due to human activity and natural events. This allows scientists to monitor disasters and direct response on the ground and study a number of phenomena, from the movement of glaciers to urban wildlife. Radian Aerospace Wants To Reinvent The Space Rocket

Radian Aerospace Wants To Reinvent The Space Rocket

Handout Artist’s renditon of Radian One, a "space plane" capable of reaching orbit in a single stage. A Seattle-area startup called Radian Aerospace is fine-tuning the design of its orbital space plane, with an eye toward building a subscale prototype as early as this year. The company is also in the midst of a fresh round of fundraising, following up on $ 27.5 million in investment that was announced in 2022, according to Livingston Holder, Radian’s co-founder and chief technology officer. “That round will be larger,” Holder said. Over the past two years, Radian has made progress on an ambitious plan to create a reusable winged space plane that would be launched toward low Earth orbit by a rocket-propelled sled and its own rocket engines. The single-stage-to-orbit concept, or SSTO, has been called a “holy grail” for cheap access to spacePhoto by Radian Aerospace via ABACAPRESS.COM

SpaceX Will Return Stranded Astronauts Next Year

Handout file photo dated June 27, 2024 NASA's Boeing Crew Flight Test astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore prepare orbital plumbing hardware for installation inside the International Space Station’s bathroom, also known as the waste and hygiene compartment, located in the Tranquility module. Two Nasa astronauts who have been stuck in space for over two months will return to Earth in February 2025 with SpaceX. Nasa said the Boeing Starliner spacecraft the astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore had travelled to International Space Station (ISS) on would return to Earth "un-crewed". The pair took off on what was planned to be an eight-day mission on 5 June but will now spend around eight months in orbit. Photo by NASA via ABACAPRESS.COM
