Sony to introduce software to make AIBO charge on its own

TOKYO, Japan - Sony Marketing (Japan) Inc. said Oct. 10 it will introduce two new software products for the AIBO pet robot in November. One of them, ''Oriko (good boy) AIBO,'' will enable the robot to gauge its remaining battery life and, if low, the canine will start walking toward a charger and sit down on it. Another software package, ''Kawaii (cute) AIBO,'' will give the robot the ability to make autonomous, friendly moves, such as making a handstand and kissing a human hand. (Kyodo)
