TOP Water Systems' Mobile Water Purification System for Disaster "TOP Rescue RO II

TOP Water Systems' Mobile Water Purification System for Disaster "TOP Rescue RO II

Top Water Systems (Ota-ku, Tokyo) will develop a new, smaller and lower-priced version of its TOP Rescue RO II (photo), a mobile water purification system for use during disasters. The company aims to complete the product by June 2020, with a sales target of 100 units for the first year. The size is expected to be less than one-third of the conventional models. The RO II is priced at 6 million yen (excluding consumption tax), and the new product aims to be priced at less than 1 million yen. We will continue to sell the ROII as our main product, but we will expand the market by adding compact products that can be installed in any location, including homes, in order to create a synergistic effect. The RO II has been improved to supply not only water for domestic use and drinking, but also sanitary water for medical use. Kanagawa University's Hybrid Rocket

Kanagawa University's Hybrid Rocket

The Aerospace Structures Laboratory of Kanagawa University will conduct a flight demonstration in September of a hybrid rocket whose components are being jointly developed with a small and medium-sized manufacturing company in Ota-ku, Tokyo. The target altitude is a maximum of 15 kilometers, and in order to reach this altitude, the vehicle has been made larger than before, and the basic technology will be established with the aim of reaching the target altitude of 100 kilometers by 2022. The ratio of propellant to the total weight of the rocket has also been increased. Up to now, the machining of the parts had been done in the Aerospace Structures Laboratory of Kanagawa University, but with the increase in size of the vehicle, they began to collaborate with companies. "In the future, we want to develop a rocket that can launch small satellites quickly and inexpensively," without using special technology. Takakuwa Seisakusho (Ota-ku, Tokyo, President: Eiji Takakuwa, 03-3731-4647) is engaged in spatula forming of various metals. The company is now producing titanium drinking cups for the general public using a new technology called "Hitohira-shibori," which is a more advanced version of spatula shibori. Hera-shibori is a three-dimensional processing technique in which a spatula is pressed against a metal plate while it is being rotated. The company's uniquely developed single-piece buckle makes it possible to form double-structured vessels from a single metal plate. Generally, double-layered metal vessels are made by welding. President Takakuwa says, "At first glance, it's hard to tell the difference between our products and others, but when we explain our technology, people often find value in it.
