The construction and upgrade of the Dongzhong border, including Lihuo customs gate, started in July 2019 and were accepted and approved in September 2023, involving a total investment of 1.614 billion yuan (about 222 million U.S. dollars). The border gate pair is expected to help shorten transport time and reduce costs for businesses. It will also facilitate immigration and trade, and step up people-to-people exchanges.
