Chile: M6.2 Earthquake Shakes Coquimbo Region

A strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Coquimbo region of northern Chile on Thursday morning, February 12. The quake hit near the town of Punitaqui at a depth of nearly 37 km. On February 1, 2026, in Dali, Yunnan province, southwestern China, a video showed a small squirrel struggling on an overhead power line at the Canghai Yunshang Grassland scenic area.
