San Juan Festivities - Alicante

Hundreds of people watch the cremà of the Bonfires of San Juan, June 24, 2023, in Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. Although the bonfires of San Juan are celebrated as a tradition on the night of June 23-24, the city of Alicante chooses to consider that the bonfires of the night of San Juan should be made during the last hours of June 24 and the first hours of the following June 25. Despite the different days on which it is celebrated in each province, the Night of San Juan represents a pagan festival of worship to the Sun, as a tribute to harvest time and as a purifying element.
