Joint Conference by SOMPO Holdings and Palantir Technologies

Palantir Technologies (California) , a U.S. provider of big data analysis, announced on the 18th that it has established a joint venture with SOMPO Holdings (HD) (photo). On December 1, Palantir will provide a service to analyze all kinds of data within Japanese companies and public institutions, including Excel, e-mail, and call records. The data will be used to predict the possibility of free recalls of automobile parts and to detect money laundering. The new company, Palantir Technologies Japan (Chuo Ward, Tokyo), is 50% owned by Palantir and 50% by SOMPOHD. It will be capitalized at 100 million dollars (about 10.8 billion yen), and aims to achieve sales of 100 billion yen in the medium to long term. President Kengo Sakurada expressed his hope that the company will pursue its dream of becoming a real data platformer.
