VLADIMIR KARA-MURZA

In the first mentioned section, this year's award is going to Vladimir Kara-Murza (centre), a Russian journalist, activist and long-term critic of Vladimir Putin's regime. Kara-Murza, who was an aide and friend of the murdered politician Boris Nemtsov, has been active with the conservative-liberal opposition forces. He is the president of the Open Russia movement and coordinates the project of Free Elections in Russia.
