Toyota launches redesigned Passo compact car

NAGOYA, Japan - Photo shows the redesigned Passo compact hatchback, developed by Toyota Motor Corp. in conjunction with its subsidiary Daihatsu Motor Co. and launched Feb. 15, 2010. Toyota initially planned to hold events to mark the launch of the new model but canceled them as the automaker is currently recalling its new Prius hybrid and other vehicles due to brake problems.

Toyota's Passo sees triple expected orders at 25,000

OSAKA, Japan - Executives of Toyota Motor Corp. and its affiliate Daihatsu Motor Co. pose in front of the new Passo compact car, the result of their first joint development project, in Osaka on July 8. Toyota said it has received about 25,000 orders for the car since its introduction in the domestic market a month ago, nearly 3.6 times the initial monthly sales target of 7,000.

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. and affiliate Daihatsu Motor Co. on June 7 launched a new compact car model (photo) produced through the first joint development project for the Japanese market between the two companies. Toyota's dealerships across Japan are selling the car as the Passo and Daihatsu's are selling it as the Boon. The lineup of the new model features 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter engines, with prices set between 945,000 yen and 1,302,000 yen.
