The long aqueduct on Pihe River in Feixi County of Hefei is one of the award-winning projects at this year's International Bridge Conference (IBC) held in Washington. The steel aqueduct, which is 246 meters long, is the world's longest-span steel structure of its kind. The total length of the aqueduct is 350 meters, of which a section of 246 meters is built with a steel structure. Designed as "a river above a river," the aqueduct sits above a canal with a span of 110 meters, which architects said is the longest span of similar structures in the world.
