Memorial service held for Sri Lankan 1 year after death in detention

A memorial service is held at a temple in the Aichi Prefecture city of Aisai, central Japan, on March 6, 2022, to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Ratnayake Liyanage Wishma, a 33-year-old Sri Lankan woman who died while in custody at the Nagoya immigration center in the prefecture in 2021. Wishma's 27-year-old sister Poornima (front, C) was among the about 50 people who attended the Buddhist service at the temple where her remains are being kept.
