International travel guide Lonely Planet listed it as one of the 10 best carnivals in the world. The carnival is an excellent opportunity to see not only the door-to-door rounds of Kurents that UNESCO put on its Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, but also to observe several folk and carnival parades, and meet traditional and modern carnival characters.
