"The Kabul department of General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) rescued Abdul Ghafar from the kidnappers in Qargha area of Paghman district in a special operation on Monday," the government said in a statement. The statement came as security forces have arrested nine kidnappers, six Islamic State (IS) militants and 35 robbers, and seized a huge amount of weapons and ammunition in clearance operations in Kabul and surrounding provinces since Friday, according to government sources.
