University of Tokyo's new academic program

University of Tokyo President Teruo Fujii (L) holds a press conference on April 4, 2025, at the university to announce the establishment of a new academic program, UTokyo College of Design, in September 2027, marking the first time in about 70 years that Japan's top academic institution will have launched a new faculty. The five-year bachelor's and master's program, led by Prof. Miles Pennington (R), prospective dean, will be conducted only in English, with half of enrollment quota of 100 allocated to foreign students.
