Thailand: Flash Floods Kill Several After Heavy Rainfall In Southern Provinces

Flash flooding hit parts of southern Nakhon Si Thammarat province after heavy rain that started Sunday night, December 15 into Monday morning, December 16, leaving many roads impassable. Flooding was also reported in Chumphon, Phatthalung, Ranong, and Surat Thani provinces. 8 people were reportedly killed by the flooding in those five provinces.

YANGON, Myanmar - Photo taken in June 2013 shows Myanmar's border checkpoint with Thailand, connecting Myawady in eastern Myanmar with Mae Sot in northwestern Thailand. Starting 8 a.m. on Aug. 28, 2013, foreign nationals holding valid passports with valid entry visas issued by Myanmar will be allowed to enter and exit the country through the border checkpoints at Tachileik-Mae Sai, Myawady-Mae Sot, Kawthoung-Ranong and Htee Khee-Punaron, Myanmar immigration officials said Aug. 27.
