TOKYO, Japan - A pair of stag beetles is selling for 5 million yen in an insect shop in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, on July 12. Collecting stag beetles, known as 'kuwagata mushi' in Japanese, is a popular hobby in Japan. The prices are determined according to the size, birth place, color and shape of the beetles. The male beetle (R) is 77 millimeters long and the female is 51 mm.
